Youth Ministries

 

Note: Adults who would like to assist in youth activities must complete a PA background check, fingerprinting, as well as participate in a training course as mandated by the Policies, Standards, and Procedures of the Orthodox Church in America on Sexual Misconduct (link)

Altar Servers – All young boys (ages 7-18) are eligible to participate as altar servers. Additionally, adult supervisors are required in the altar during the services. Supervisors also provide training to new altar servers.

Church School – Teachers and substitute teachers are needed for the various classes. Teachers’ aides can assist the very young children. Guest speakers can volunteer for the junior/senior classes.

Youth Choir – Helpers are needed to assist the director in teaching the singers new songs, as well as organizing and bringing together the choir during services.

Youth Group – Youth ages 12 to 18 meet monthly to grow in their Christian faith through worship, service, and fellowship. We currently meet on the last Sunday of the month from 1-3pm. Volunteers are needed to organize activities for our youth group. Youth Group is affiliated with the Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America, the official fraternal organization of the Orthodox Church in America. All parish youth ages 8-17 are enrolled as members by the parish.

Youth Vestry – Young members of our parish, ages 12 to 18, work with adult vestry persons to perform duties during the Divine Liturgy and to learn about this service.

Home School Co-Op - Under the patronage of St. Ita, this is an initiative of several families in our parish. A weekly 2 hour gathering for pre-school aged children (and their parents) from Sept - May.
